First Meeting

During our first meeting, I want you to feel comfortable with me and begin building trust. Some people are nervous at the first meeting which is completely natural. One gift I have is to make people feel comfortable; I'm very none judgmental, understanding and helpful.

To help you feel more comfortable, I'm outlining our first meeting. Answer any questions you have
I always start by answering any burning questions you have. It's best to stick to fitness questions, however; religion, politics and world peace are acceptable topics.

Take your health history
All good trainers will ask questions about your health in order to avoid aggravating current or old injuries. Some of the questions include the following:

Have you had or do you have:
  • Heart attack/Heart surgery
  • Heart valve disease
  • Congenital heart disease
  • Chest discomfort with exertion
  • Unreasonable breathlessness
  • Dizziness, fainting, blacking out
  • Surgery
  • Diabetes/High blood sugar
  • Smoker
  • Asthma
  • Cholesterol > 200mg/dL
  • Blood pressure > 140/90
  • Hysterectomy/Postmenopausal/Pregnant
  • Father or brother that had a heart attack before age 55 (age 65 for females)
  • 20 pounds overweight or underweight
  • Injuries
  • Medications
  • Occupation
  • Hobbies
Identify Your Goals
Increase your odds 75% by putting your goals in writing and reviewing them daily. I like those odds and will provide you with tools to succeed. Together we will create customized SMART goals for you. SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely and keep both of us focused and on target.

Identify a Specific Path to Accomplishing Your Goals
It's all about small fitness successes strung together that will get you to your goals. It's never a perfect path, but it is a doable path. With my expertise in fitness we will identify a specific path to progress you to your goals. We will use a pace you are comfortable with, but one that will consistently move you forward.

Provide Tools for Your Fitness Success
I've created a visual system of SMART goals and a calendar that makes you 75% more likely to accomplish your goals. The system is the system professional coaches use with executive management. Once we have identified your goals and a path to your fitness success, this simple system makes exercise easy. As you get to know me, you will learn I love systems that work, and I love systems that are simple. And that's what I've created for you.

Together we will create customized SMART goals for you. SMART goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely and keep both of us focused and on target.

Then, you will chart your exercise on a calendar. You will visually see your efforts which will motivate you and create your small fitness successes along the path to your big picture fitness success. Add the human motivation and accountability I give you, and you have a winning game plan.

It may sound simple, but it works, and my clients have experienced success with the system over and over again.

That's your tour of the first meeting and the game plan.
Don't worry. I usually don't bite at the first meeting.

Start Exercising
About 30% of my clients want to start exercising our first meeting. Once I take the health history, I can start you moving with some weight training, cardio, stretching, or whatever you would like. I usually start with core strength which includes the five basics of Pilates, stomach, bum and lower back.
